How Big is the Baby at 15 Weeks Pregnant?Your baby is a about the size of an orange by pregnancy week 15, between 4 and 4 and ½ inches long and weighing more than 1 ½ ounces!
Your Baby's Growth and DevelopmentYour baby is growing rapidly as always as you continue your pregnancy week by week journey. You would still be able to see your baby's blood vessels through his paper-thin skin if you were to peek inside your uterus during pregnancy week 15. In fact the vessels forming in your baby's body make him look rather like a map! This week your baby will start producing lanugo, which is fine hair that will cover your baby's body up until a few weeks before birth. Lanugo covers every part of your baby in utero, except for the palms, soles of the feet, lips, penis, nails and inner fingers and toes. Typically babies will shed this hair by the 8th month of pregnancy, but it can persist in some after birth for a short period of time. Pre-term babies are more likely to be born with lanugo than full term babies. Your baby might start sucking his thumb this week.

The bones in your baby's body are also starting to get harder during pregnancy at 15 weeks and will continue to do so throughout your pregnancy. Your baby is spending most of his time practicing breathing, by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid. Believe it or not, the very act of doing so will help your baby's air sacs develop during pregnancy. Your baby continues to form taste buds at this point in time.

A couple of updates.....

First off, I have started to feel the little stinker move this week!! Woo hooo....what an exciting and amazing feeling! I love the little fluttering feeling and can't wait until he\she is big enough to give me those nice hard kicks!! Second off, we have an appointment on the 12th of March and we should be finding out if the little stinker is a HE or SHE!!! I can't believe it, its less than 2 weeks away! That is not long to wait at all. Goodness gracious. Although it would be nice to have a little boy, I also think it would be alot of fun to have to little girlies grow up together. Either way, we are just hoping for a happy and healthy little stinker!!

Bubbles and paint on Sunday Funday....

Now that we are good and settled in, we figured it was time to start putting our own little touch on stuff. So, we decided on having Sunday Fundays to paint one room at a time. This past Sunday, we started with the living room. I was very very very happy with the results, and it only took us about 3 hours to get everything done! I just thing it adds so much to our living room. Everyone that has seen it so far, has fallen in love with it! Next, we are doing Keagan's room.
Afterwards, daddy found this fun bubble wand and just had to get it to play with Keagan! She absolutely loved and had a ball trying to catch the bubbles! That is, until she slipped on some of the bubble mix that was dripping off the wand!! Poor baby!! Anyway, here are some pics! I hope everyone is having an amazing week!

14 weeks....

How Big is the Baby at Fourteen Weeks Pregnant?Your baby may be anywhere from 3.2 to a little over 4 inches long by pregnancy week 14, and likely weighs close to one ounce! Every day of your pregnancy week by week your baby is growing more and more proportional.
Your Baby's Growth and DevelopmentBy pregnancy 14 weeks your baby's body is growing quite rapidly. During pregnancy week 14 his length is catching up with his slightly larger head. The ears have started their move to the sides of the head, and the eyes continue to get closer and closer together.
During pregnancy week 14 your baby's neck will elongate, and the chin will start to rise up off the chest. Your baby's reflexes will also continue to develop this week. By pregnancy 14 weeks your baby should be receiving their nutrition directly from the placenta. Remember that everything you put into your body can cross the placental wall and impact your fetus. This includes not only things you eat such as food preservatives, but also things that may come into contact your skin, such as house sprays or other cleaning agents. Remember that lotions penetrate the skin, so why wouldn't household cleaners? At this time more than any other time in your life it is important that you make safe and healthy choices with regard to your health and well being.
Anything you eat or inhale could directly or indirectly affect the health and well being of your baby.
Eating a healthy diet is vital to the well being of your child. Avoiding alcohol during pregnancy as well as avoiding certain foods is important to ensure a happy, healthy environment for your unborn baby. If you are smoking during your pregnancy please stop now.
One thing that you should never do when pregnant is change a cat's litter box. Doing so could put you at risk for contracting a disease called
Toxoplasmosis. This is an infection that can occur via contact with the stool of an infected cat. The risk to your baby is substantial. Cats are often infected from outside sources including rodents. Most pet owners that have had cats for a long time have likely already been exposed to the disease at some time or another in their life, and this will not necessarily result in an increased risk for your baby. However during pregnancy, you do have an excuse to have someone else change the litter pan for the time being. You should also avoid gardening to some extent, as outdoor cats sometimes prefer to leave their stools in the soil of a garden.
If you absolutely must garden or change a cat box, be sure you wear gloves and a mask, and carefully wash your hands after performing any of these higher risk activities.
Update: I'm still feeling really good. Had my appt yesterday and everything looked good. Suprisingly, this pregnancy has seemed to go smoother than my other two so far. My blood pressure, a big factor, hasn't given me any problems thus far. Yesterday it came in at 118\70, which is a little below normal. My doctor was really suprised by that, given it was in 160's to 170's\up to 110's during the last pregnancy every visit. We got our income tax back, and I paid off some bills that morning, so Chris seems to the think thats why it was so low. =) Anyway, we got to hear the heartbeat!!! What an amazing sound....Its always so reassuring when you are able to hear it. And so far over the 14 weeks, I have gained 5 pounds. I'm really suprised too, if I remember correctly, I think I was wearing maternity clothes starting about this point. And as of right now, I'm not needing them just quite yet. Who knows, that could change as of next week. =)
Anyway, everything so far is good. I go back in 3 weeks to go my quad screening (bloodwork for abnormalities), and then 3 weeks after that for my sono! So, we will find out in 6 short weeks what our little deedle is!!
How exciting!!!

Happy Birthday....

First and foremost, I just want to say this post is going to be a bit out of the norm for me. But, something has been compelling me all day that I need to get this out and down. As most of you that know me, know that Farren's father, Mike, passed away three years ago in June. Today would have been his 31st birthday, AND our 5th wedding anniversary. Needless to say, Farren was having a tough time this morning. Luckily, her grandma picked her up early from school and they spent the day together remembering him. It seems the older she gets, the harder it is on her every year that he is gone. Which, in turn, makes me sooo thankful that we have Chris here to help with some of the pain in the Step-dad area and do "dad" type things with her. Although he will never replace him or take his role, he has done an amazing job being her step-dad. Anywho, with Mike being such a big part of my life for such a long time, I just wanted to take a moment, say a prayer, and send a happy birthday wish out to him. So, if you could, take a moment, and relish in the person, father, and husband that he was, and send him up some birthday wishes too. Please also say a little prayer for his family, our daughter, and especially his mom, who is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Amazing and as strong as she is, I know that she struggles terribly through these days. Many of you out there know all to well how it feels to lose a child. And every little thought and prayer her way helps.

Anyway, Happy Birthday and Happy Annivesary Mike, you will never be forgotten, and you will always be missed.

We love you.

13 weeks....

How your baby's growing:Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.See what your baby looks like this week.Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
How your life's changing:This is the last week of your first trimester, and your risk of miscarriage is now much lower than earlier in pregnancy. Next week marks the beginning of your second trimester, a time of relative comfort for many women who see early pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness and fatigue subside. More good news: Many couples also notice a distinct libido lift around this time. Birth is still months away, but your breasts may have already started making colostrum, the nutrient-rich fluid that feeds your baby for the first few days after birth, before your milk starts to flow.

Update: I'm feeling good. Hoping that being tired subsides now that the first trimester is officially over....woohoo!! Grow baby grow! I can't believe how fast it is still going by. I go back to the doctor on the 20th and hopefully I will find out when I'm going to have the sonogram to see if we are having our third precious girl or our first precious boy. Either way, we are just hoping for a happy healthy baby.

Happy Valentines Day.....09

Where's are you????

Fun, Fun, Fun....

Farren has her second to last game this Saturday in Azle. I was so proud of her last week, she did awesome! She really held the team together and kept them going. She got them motivated by scoring the first basket of the game. I am so amazed at how much I have seen her improve over the basketball season, I can't wait until she gets to start doing the real thing at school. Another thing I love, she has started to get into a bit of a girl stage....(shhhhhhhh!!! Don't tell her or tease her about it), she is blow drying her hair and straightening it everyday, and believe it looks GREAT! I can't believe how much older it makes her look. Its crazy, I will have to get a picture of it. Keaganbear is doing good and growing like a weed. We are still working with the potty and she is taking to it well, but she thinks she should get a sticker for just sitting on it....little stinker. And well, I just can't resist her little face. So, Farren and I decided she can have a little sticker for sitting and a big sticker when she pottys! What a plan. =)

Anywho, I was doing laundry tonight, and she loves loves loves to sort clothes and throw them all over the place. Well, I was loading up some clothes in the washer and I turned around to this?????

Tee Tee update...

Keagan just got her second sticker! Yeah, go Keagan go! This time, she did not get scared mid stream so she was able to finish her potty. =) Mommy contained her excitement until after she was done. Afterwards, she got off and leaned over and stared into the potty like.....Did I just do that?????? What a big girl! I'm so proud of her! Maybe she does understand what she is suppose to do. I thought it was just a chance happening the other night.
Funny note.... she loves to watch me dump the pee in the big toilet and wash it out. =)

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Mommy wow....I'm a big girl now!

So, my mom came over Sunday night and brought a little potty that my grandma bought for Keagan! It is so stinkin cute, and she is even cuter sitting on it. Well, last night I decided to sit her on it just to see what she would do. She looked down at it and tried to stand up in it and then quickly climbed off. Oh well I thought, she is really really to young to start potty training yet. But I thought what the heck. Well, she proceeded to play on it all night long and I decided to put her on there again. I sat her down on the toilet and said "you need to go tee tee?" And low and behold the little stinker went!!!! Chris and I both looked at each other and bursted with excitement. I didn't get to take a picture of her on there because, well, our excitement scared her mid-stream and she wanted me to pick her up! We clapped and said yeah, and told her good girl. Farren brought some stickers in there and gave her one to put on her potty. Maybe it was accident, maybe coincidence, or maybe she is just smart. Whatever it is, it was so cute, and I think we just might put her on there more often to see what she does! Plus, she really wants the stickers now!!

12 weeks....

How your baby's growing:The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)Note: Every baby develops a little differently, even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
Update: I can't believe I'm already almost out of my first trimester. It just seems to be going by sooo much faster then the last two. Again, I think I can contribute that to be busier these days then before. Either way, I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. I'm still extremely exhausted. To the point that Chris has been urging me to take a nap when he gets home so I can rest. He is so sweet, I worry about leaving him up with both kids and dinner and homework and what not, but he reassures me that he can handle. What a husband! I love him so much. =) I can tell I'm pregnant now, my stomach is getting really hard. I'm still able to wear most of my clothes, but some are starting to get snug. I go back to the doctor on the 20th, so hopefully, we will get to hear the heartbeat for the first time!! I can't wait!!

Can you say cheese???

Well, my little stinker can...
This is the sweet sweet face I get everytime I try to take a picture and I ask her to "say cheese!" She is so stinkin cute, it just melts my heart to see her smile and understand what she is suppose to do when the time for pictures comes.
Who could turn this little smile down?????

11 weeks...

*****I'm late, I know. This should have been up Saturday. But, we've been busy...sorry. *****
It's week 11, have you started practicing kegels yet? If not, now's a great time to get going. These easy exercises can help immensely in the latter stages of pregnancy.
This is a good time to consider ways to maintain a healthy diet and good exercise routine during your pregnancy. Speaking of exercise, it's a good idea to learn Kegel exercises, and time to start doing 25 a day. These are exercises you don't have to get to the gym for! Stuck in traffic? Washing dishes? Listening to a boring presentation or a lecture from your boss? Then you can do a Kegel! Kegels strengthen the pelvic floor and tone the vaginal and perineal area. To do a Kegel, tighten the muscles around the vagina and anus and hold for eight to 10 seconds. Confused? Practice by stopping a stream of urine when you're on the toilet.
What's Happening with Your Body
You're almost done with your first trimester! Although you may be tired, sore, and nauseated at times, your body is in full-blown work mode. Your blood supply has increased to bring oxygen and nutrients throughout your body and especially to your unborn baby. Pregnancy hormones have been pulsing through your system, relaxing your ligaments and muscles so they can stretch and expand to accommodate your baby. Other hormones have put the rest of your body on alert—your breasts have grown considerably in preparation to feed your newborn. With all these internal changes, you may have little to show for it on the outside but a slight baby bump. (Don't worry, your bump will be basketball size before long!)
Pregnancy DietAlong with an increasing belly, you may have noticed the numbers on the scaling inching upwards. That's OK! Weight gain is part of a healthy pregnancy. Many physicians hesitate to attach a certain weight gain for a "normal" pregnancy, pointing out that every woman is different. If you began your pregnancy overweight, you may not need to gain as much as an underweight woman. That said, an average-sized woman should expect to gain between 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy.
While weight gain is inevitable, pregnancy doesn't mean that you should throw out healthy eating habits in favor of extra scoops of ice cream and double portions of everything else. Eating sensibly will not only make you feel better—and get your baby-to-be the nutrients he needs—but it will make it that much easier to lose the weight after your baby's born.
Where do those pounds go?Those added pounds are there for a reason; here's how they are distributed:
Baby: 7½ pounds
Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
Placenta: 1½ pounds
Uterus: 2 pounds
Breasts: 2 pounds
Body fluids: 4 pounds
Blood: 4 pounds
Maternal stores (like fat, protein, and nutrients): 7 pounds
Keep in mind you'll be adding these 30 pounds gradually throughout your pregnancy.
Avoid gaining too muchDespite the old adage to "eat for two," you shouldn't double your caloric intake during pregnancy. A normal-sized, healthy adult woman consumes between 1,800 to 2,200 calories a day. To supply your body with the added nutrients it needs during pregnancy, you should increase your calorie count by 300, not 1,000. In fact, 300 calories isn't that much. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a bagel, some string cheese, or an extra tall glass of milk is all it takes—any of these choices will give you an extra 300 calories.
Foods that are good for you and your baby-to-beMake the most of your increased calories by choosing foods that will provide the maximum nutrient kick. Here are a few nutrients that will benefit you and your unborn baby:
Protein: This important nutrient provides the building blocks for tissue. In your unborn baby, protein promotes muscle growth; and for you, protein builds up breast tissue. Bring on the meat, chicken, and milk!
Calcium: Strong bones begin with calcium. Your baby-to-be will need plenty of calcium to \build her bones, and your bones will need extra support, too. Add plenty of cheese, milk, and calcium-fortified juices to your grocery list. (Maybe a little ice cream, too!)
Iron: Remember that increased blood supply? Well, iron is what helps form blood. Choose iron-rich foods such as red meat, eggs, beans, and green vegetables.
Folic Acid: Found in oranges, green vegetables, and beans, folic acid prevents spina bifida, a serious birth deformity. Don't forget your glass of orange juice in the morning to help stave off this potential problem.
Pregnancy is not the time to diet. Instead of worrying about gaining weight, base your food choices instead on what will provide your growing baby the nutrients she needs.
Update: I'm feeling pretty good for the most part, besides having to stick toothpicks in my eyelids to keep them open around 1 in the afternoon until I finally go to bed. Man, I don't remember being this tired with my other two. Maybe its because I have more on my plate do to everyday then I did before. Needless to say, I am EXHAUSTED by bedtime. But once I lay down, I can stare at the ceiling for an hour. Weird. Anyway, I know Chris will be excited when this phase passes. We can't even watch a movie together, which is our favorite thing to do at nite. =( Because I am falling asleep on the couch about mid way through. Oh well, the first trimester is almost over, so hopefully the fatigue passes on with it.
I have my next appointment on the 20th, so hopefully we will get to hear the heartbeat then! I am so looking forward to it! I just love that sound! It just reassures you that there is a little being growing slowly inside of you! What a warm feeling!
Hope everyone is having a great week thus far!

Just call me slave driver....

Ha Ha....just kidding. Well, thats what my hubby is calling me. We are moved, YEAH!! We closed on our new house on Thursday at about 10 in the morning, stopped to have lunch at On the Border, and then headed to the house to start loading up!! We got everything moved and unpacked and up on the walls by Friday night. It looks SOOO good, I can't wait to put up pictures. Everyone, including the dogs and cat, are loving the new place. Keagan loves the carpet, she has been just rolling around all over the place, and falling backwards because it doesn't hurt! Its so cute! Farren got her room decorated the way she wanted and spent all weekend hanging out in there. Saturday, we had a basketball game in the morning, a bridal shower in the afternoon, Congrats Kari, and a birthday party that night, Happy Birthday Rylee!! So, needless to say, we were beat by sunday. We hung out with some friends and family at the new house and cooked out for the superbowl. In bed early, and now its today. =)
I will get pics up soon though, I have lots of them.
Hope everyone is having a great day and week!
